My start in the green industry came at an early age. I was 13 years old when I had the opportunity to start cutting grass for several of my neighbors. After the first mowing season I knew that I had found something that I loved. At the age of 14 I purchased my first commercial lawn mower. I continued to grow my business slowly for the next several years. This gave me time to learn the industry. From the beginning I learned the value of quality work, customer service, and most importantly building relationships with customers.

 

By the time I was heading off to college my lawn care service had turned into a full time job. While running the business full time I attended Lindenwood University. After earning a Bachelors Degree in Accounting at Lindenwood I continued on to earn a Masters of Business Administration with an empahsis in Accounting. After a short spell in the corporate world I left the accounting industry to pursue growing my lawn care service full time.

 

Often I am asked if I regret going to college since I chose to stay in the green industry. I am proud to say college was a great experience and I learned a lot about what the world has to offer. I also learned what I have to offer to the world and to my clients. My college education combined with my many years of experience in this industry work together to make my business an industry leader in our community.

 

Everyday I become more passionate about this industry and what it has to offer. I continue to take classes in pesticide application and landscape maintenance because I have learned the value of education. I also enjoy networking with local distributors and my competitors to both share and gain knowledge. We are celebrating 19 years in business this year and I am proud to say that I still have many of the same clients from my first few years in business.
